My endeavor

There seems to be a lot of confusion about what to eat. No other generation has ever been faced with such a challenging, and seemingly ridiculous, quandary. If we did not know what to eat we would not have survived this long. And yet, in the face of today's ever-changing FDA-approved list of super foods, scientific eating, low-carb, high-protein, master cleanse nonsense, our society appears to be more confused, fatter and unhealthier than ever before. If it were not for medical advancements we would almost surely be extinct. We cannot continue down this road where Lean Cuisine is king and Kim Kardashian is looked to for health tips and advice. No, we must take charge of our health, our lives, our happiness. It is my goal to help us remember what our mothers and fathers taught us: how to eat.

This blog will serve as a guide of whole foods, their nutritional components and health benefits, and the recipes I use them in. Let's eat our way to health and happiness!

  1. I love that this the rationale behind your blog. As a pescetarian myself I'm conscious about what I'm eating. And it's so true, there is A LOT of confusion about what to eat. It's especially hard when what you're eating becomes trendy. One minute something is the best thing you can do for yourself and the next it's the worst. I still don't think anyone has ever fully explained to me what antioxidants actually are/do. I know they're rumored to be good for you - and I do find myself going out of my way to find antioxidant rich foods - but I also feel like they're a huge marketing ploy.

    And to make it all more confusing than it already is, they've done away with the food pyramid. I've not yet read about it extensively, but I'm interested to see what sort of things we're supposed to be eating now.

    Kudos to you for writing on this topic. I am definitely a fan.

  2. I agree! TrimSpa? Really? I'm suppose to believe that's how Kim Kardashian maintains her body? Yeah....no.
    I think the other part of the problem is that the American Heart Association gives their stamp of approval on products like Lucky Charms. Yup, Lucky Charms, they're magically nutritious, and loaded with horrible sugar and chemicals! YAY! Enjoy children of the world, the AHA says it's okay dokay!
